The UK is heavily
influenced by pop culture from the States just as the influence went
the other way possibly as recently as the early 20th century. During
the 19th century there was massive correlation between the two with
Mary, Anne and Elizabeth dominating for the girls and William, john
and James for the boys. Back then the United Kingdom was the dominant
power in the world much to the extent that the US is now so the social
demographics dictated that culture followed the larger sibling. Books
movies sport and music have done much to spread the word when it comes
to given names for example how many girls named Kayleigh or Kaylee
would you find before the 1980s?
